چکیده

In the current study, we have developed an easy, practical, and reliable method to collect semen from camel bulls. Simply, intromission ofa super-sensitive artificial insemination glove intravaginally with outer fixation in perineal region lateral dorsal sides of thevulva, mating, withdrawal collection were successive steps. Bull behaviour before during mating process wasobserved. The collected was evaluated aspects colour, volume sperm cell concentration. Also, individual spermmotility fertility by applying in-vitro fertilization investigated after dilution a new extender for camelsemen (100 mmol/l Tris, 65 lactose, 50 glucose, 40 galactose, 125 mg/100ml BSA, IU/ml catalase enzyme,1000 penicillin G 500µg/ml streptomycin: pH 7.0). Presence intravaginal its external adhesivetape did not affect bull willingness interrupt process. Semen successful 112 out total128 trials (87.5%) lengthy copulation (10.3 ± 6.2 min - Mean SD). parameters ejaculates were:volume 8.3 3.6 ml (Mean SD); concentration 437.6 62.4 X 106 SD) sperm/ml; individualmotility liquefaction 45 68.2 11.4 % grayish white creamy colour dependingon Finally, using diluted IVF technique showed cleaved, morula blastocyst rates66.1%, 43.5% 25.8%, respectively. conclusion, AI gloves is practical semencollection will facilitate application reproductive technologies on large scale dromedary camels. Keywords: collection, Camel, In-vitro

Reproduction in dromedary camels: an update

This review summarizes recent developments in camel reproduction, and it describes characteristics of the ovarian follicular wave cycle and exogenous hormonal control of ovulation and luteolysis. In addition, an account is given of the developments in assisted reproductive technologies in camels such as methods for collection, transfer, and deep-freezing of embryos and semen. Details of recent ...

Artificial insemination in dromedary camels.

Artificial insemination (AI) is an important technique in all domestic species to ensure rapid genetic progress. The use of AI has been reported in camelids although insemination trials are rare. This could be because of the difficulties involved in collecting as well as handling the semen due to the gelatinous nature of the seminal plasma. In addition, as all camelids are induced ovulators, th...

MERS Coronaviruses in Dromedary Camels, Egypt

We identified the near-full-genome sequence (29,908 nt, >99%) of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) from a nasal swab specimen from a dromedary camel in Egypt. We found that viruses genetically very similar to human MERS-CoV are infecting dromedaries beyond the Arabian Peninsula, where human MERS-CoV infections have not yet been detected.

Authors reply: Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in dromedary camels: are dromedary camels a reservoir for MERS-CoV?

In fact, we mentioned in our paper [2] in detail that the cycle threshold (Ct) values in nasal and conjunctival swabs of the five MERS-CoV reverse transcriptionquantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) positive Omani camels ranged from as low as 15.74 to 36.29, indicating a high viral load in the former. Our results were confirmed in a recent report by Raj et al. [3], who demonstrated an...
